It’s good we live in a society where the power of choice and creativity is appreciated in the workplace. Everyone isn’t the same. If you have a presentation to prepare you can choose to write it in longhand or type it on the computer. You can add Power Point slides, photos, or any number of visuals to captivate your audience with your presentation.
Whatever you choose, let your creativity shine through and give everyone an opportunity to assess your talents. In today’s competitive workplace we all need to be mindful that the choices we decide upon can make us or break us, win us a fan base, or have our credibility drastically tarnished.
Every work environment is different. It would not serve any purpose to compare yourself to others – regardless of the situation. If you’re in a position to call the shots you can make choices regarding work that others probably would not consider. You can come to work late or leave early. If your creative level flourishes at midnight you have that freedom to work, without being questioned about your motives to work into the wee hours of the morning.
Just recently a friend was talking about her sister’s six figure salaried job and her decision to take a $35,000 salary cut to learn a different angle of the business. She said the six figure position brought too much stress.
The pay cut will give her an opportunity to remain productive and creative while learning a new routine. Her choice was to train for a different position that would eventually bring her back to the six figure status. She was smart enough to know that the job she was leaving was not the job for her. Having the opportunity to leave money behind for happiness is a choice that many may be unwilling to make. It is good to have choices that will allow us to live fulfilled lives. Finding the way to that path is creative as well as genius. Only you can make the choices you feel are right for your personal and also job growth.
